San Antonio – Trey Lyles is the newest member of the San Antonio Spurs and a four year veteran out of University of Kentucky. During the course of the Marcus Morris very short saga, San Antonio Spurs took a chance to one Trey Lyles as an alternative.
Nevertheless, the San Antonio Spurs may have a potential treasure on Trey and according to The Athletic’s Jabari Young, Trey signed for two years at about $11 Million. Lyles is a nice addition to the Spurs lineup and rotation.
Although, Trey has yet to live up to his first round pick status, he has shown interesting numbers so far. Albeit, the 64 games for the Denver Nuggets last season he actually averages 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 17 minutes and for the last two seasons with them he averages 9.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assist in 18.3 minutes. Those are fairly good numbers considering that the Nuggets are rich with depth. However, the Denver Nuggets never really explored his capacity as the rotation is not really open.
Moreover, Trey Lyles will be a stretch forward for the Silver and Black and a back-up for LaMarcus in the rotation. And with the help of the Spurs Summer Camp, he can improve on his outside shooting, mid-range and defensive acumen.
Further, Trey, already wearing San Antonio Spurs gears, did some 2-on-2 workout with Seth Curry, Andrew Wiggins and Austin Rivers. And if this latest 2-on-2 workout posted on social media is an indication of things to expect on Trey, we can already see a sleeper waiting to be unleashed. Not to mention, with the help of one great Greg Popovich Trey’s skills and attributes can be brought out and aligned with the San Antonio Spurs brand of Basketball.
