Spurs didn’t join a lottery for two decades. After choose Tim Duncan in 1997, they settled for the late first round pick to help them pick five titles.

Last year NBA draft they pick Walker IV a freshman from Miami. A kid from Reading, Philadelphia who work hard to play basketball. Using his atheliticism, it’s worth for the team investing on his future and the Spurs are right to pick him.

Walker was the earliest pick by Spurs after 21 years. He had a lot of upside, per 36 minutes he scored 13.7 points, 5 boards, 2.7 assists, 2 steals and a block per game as per Basketball Reference.

With next season he is expected to play more roles, his production will likely up. While backing up Demar DeRozan, the Spurs had another weapon both ends of the court.

He is the best prospect for the Spurs since James Anderson who didn’t pan out for the team because of ankle injuries.

With his basketball knowledge, Walker showed that he can handle the game in high level. Defensively he is great, his hands is quick to strip the ball. The Skywalker can hang to the air to change his shot and can find open guys.

With his good midrange and can shoot the ball in three. Add that he is a threat even off the ball by cutting. As a passer he is underrated, he can set up his teammates, as he takes his man to the lane and wait for the help to come into him and pass the ball to a wide open man.

His performance in G League can help him to success. In three years he can start for a 2 guard position.More playing time in Summer League can improve his skills.

Don’t be surprised if he will be the best two way player in future, if he is the best 2 guard better than anybody.
