Carolina Panthers will sign XFL star quarterback PJ Waker as per the ESPN report. They will add depth on QB position which recently signed Teddy Bridgewater who has an impressive game in New Orleans Saints while Drew Brees sits with an injury. The team reported that they will likely cut the former MVP Cam Newton who’s been dealing with injury last season as they can’t find a trade partner.
PJ Walker has an impressive performance in XFL as his team Roughnecks has a perfect 5-0 before the league suspended due to COVID19. He threw 1338 yards with a 15-4 touchdown interception ratio. Also added 99 rushing yards and a score as labeled as a dual-threat signal-caller.
The Temple product was in Indianapolis Colts practice squad for two years. Then Andrew Luck suggested to his father that PJ Walker could be a great player in his league the XFL.
“Andrew had been pushing him to me,” Oliver said, per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle (h/t Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk). “He said, ‘Dad, I’m telling you, this guy can play. He’s a good kid and a hard worker, and he’s hungry to play.'”
Walker can now compete for his spot Kyle Allen or Teddy Bridgewater. Kyle Allen leads the Panthers into a 5-11 record last season while Bridgewater been perfect in Saints with a 3-0. The Panthers yet to find success after losing to the Denver Broncos in Superbowl four years ago.
