Full details of Sammy Watkins one year deal with the Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs and reworked Sammy Watkins one year contract. The wide receiver can earn 16 million next year.

Watkins had a monster cap number ($21m). All things equal, he wanted to stay with the #Chiefs but wanted a fair shake. Got a deal that helps both sides and he didn’t have to hit a WR market that’s been shaky. Good work by Brett Veach and Watkins’ agent @ToryDandy to compromise. Via Mike Garafolo.

The former fourth pick overall by the Buffalo Bills in 2014 totaled 673 yards with 3 touchdowns last season for 14 games with the Chiefs. Watkins had 98 receiving yards in the last Super Bowl, the last one is a clutch 38 yards in the fourth quarter when the Kansas City Chiefs is down 20-17 to lead a comeback win.
