The Jacksonville Jaguars has been few plays away to a Superbowl in 2017. With the best defense in the league, they win every game. The only mistake they had is the most important position of the game was a bust. They come into the next season full of hope even extended Blake Bortles contract. That hope was turned into a disappointment when they didn’t make the playoffs.
In the offseason, they look for the Philadelphia Eagles hero and Superbowl MVP Nick Foles. But at the start of week one, he was injured. Gardner Minshew II started on the place of Foles.
In Week Three, Minshew led the Jaguars for the first victory of the season. They dominated the game right from the start where they scored for two touchdowns. He went for six plays 62 yards of gains that lead to second scores of the night. The play consists of two long passes with the gain of 28 and 22 yards touchdown.
In a week two lost over the Texans Minshew had another excellent drive in the final minutes of the game. The Jaguars were down by a touchdown, he converted a fourth and 10 with an 18 yards pass. Then in the last 30 seconds, he threw a four-yard touchdown to DJ Clark. Until Leonard Fournette run short for a two-point conversion and lost the game 13-12.
In the past two-game, the rookie shows that he can handle it when it matters. Plus he runs for 62 yards in two games. Give him the best receiver and he can deliver. Maybe the Jaguars are little unlucky about Foles magic but they can build on Gardner Minshew II. The two games were too little to believe but it was a good start for the Jaguars who get cursed with quarterbacks in the past.
