What we learned so far about the Spurs scrimmage games

Here is it! The Spurs are trying for a record of postseason makes in NBA history. They’re going to compete in Orlando for the next eight games. With the final spot in Western Conference are open for anybody, Spurs want to take every chance. The team will face these three teams who also want the 8th seed. First the Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans.

After three scrimmage games, they look comfortable and ready. In Spurs’ last game against Indiana, they played great both from veterans and young.

Derrick White is among one of the readiest Spurs. His scoring and defense are on the next level. In the scrimmage, White shot from the arc continues to improve without hesitation from himself. For the first time, he played more minutes with Dejounte Murray. This means they both locked up the perimeter on defense.

Lonnie Walker IV’s confidence is raised after giving him more minutes and being a starter. The Spurs scored more on transition points with him as they make a run on every opportunity. Walker scored n double-digit in all three scrimmage games. With him on the starting unit, he helps on defense that ranks on the bottom ten in the regular season.

We also learned that more touches on Jakob Poeltl, the big can score on his own. Without LaMarcus Aldridge, the paint isn’t a priority to score. But Jakob made a series of events that he can score. With him, he also improved the defense while trying to give Spurs a second chance opportunity.

The veteran’s rust is over. After a struggle on the last two games, DeMar DeRozan and Rudy Gay scored 40 points in just 25 attempts. In a timely matter, both of them are just in rhythm as every next game is important.

Fans proved it, no minutes for Bryn Forbes means a win and an excellent game for Keldon Johnson. The kid scored 21 points for the Spurs, his highest in three outings. Johnson is more than an energy scorer but his very tough on every possession. Never back out himself in defense which makes him a promising player.

The Spurs discovering new talent or role players to help the team. Drew Eubanks had performed so far that hopefully, he can translate it when games will count.

Whatever will be the result of Spurs’ quest they had the future that we’re all excited to witness.
