Prior to the NBA games was canceled, Spurs center Jakob Poeltl is out with an MCL injury. With this happening, Spurs season on hold and had an impact personally. Marco Belinelli countrymen in Italy suffering from this pandemic coronavirus.
Talking at Skysports, the center spoke about the situation of his family in Austria. On what his means to contact his family, if he visited them as this COVID19 affected people globally.
“Yes, it was a consideration but then it made no sense,” said Poeltl about visiting Austria.
With the United States has a travel ban in Europe, the only we Poeltl can communicate with his family is thru Skype.
“He told me a little about how things are going there,” Poeltl said. “It (coronavirus) also hit some of its players and the situation there is a lot worse than here in Texas.”
Said Poeltl: “It seems that Austria and Europe are a few steps ahead of the United States in the process. You can see what’s going on in Europe, but I’ve heard in other American cities that the crisis has not yet fully arrived.”
The Spurs center is out for the last five games which the team recorded 2-3. He’s been a backup to LaMarcus Aldridge. Occasionally, Jakob Poeltl becomes a starter when Aldridge is out of injury. The big man has rehabilitation to MCL which doctors expected his return within 2-4 weeks.
“I have my rehab here (in San Antonio) and the Spurs support me in this,” Poeltl.
