Tracy McGrady had numbers, but he failed his teams

The devastating injury made Tracy McGrady career short. From a high flyer to a journeyman late on his career. A scoring champion, All-Star, All NBA and Slam Dunk champion. He is fun to watch and will give a highlight reel in every position.

The lack of success in the playoffs made his career questionable. He never passes the first round when he is the star player. Three times in his career, McGrady had a huge lead in a series but still lost. First, in 2003, the Magic had a 3-1 commanding lead against the Pistons. But lost the next three games all in double figures. McGrady scored well but take more than 20 attempts.

In 2005, they win the first two games in Dallas but lost the next three. Two of it is in Houston, where in-game five McGrady just made 7 of his 22 attempts. They force a game seven after game six win but lost by 40 points.

Same in 2007 after leading a 2-0 over Utah Jazz with homecourt advantage. His team still losses three of the next four. The next year they also eliminated by the Jazz even with the higher seed. He always had his numbers in every game but he didn’t make his teammates better.

The lack of team success means the failure of being a leader. Michael Jordan team win a playoffs series single handily. The Knicks without Ewing reached the Finals. Tracy Mcgrady was great individually but he isn’t as great overall.
