The San Antonio Spurs bounced back quickly in 2014 to dethrone the Miami Heat in just five games. It was dubbed as the most lopsided series of all time even the old Spurs faced the primed LeBron James, Dywane Wade, and Chris Bosh. While Kawhi Leonard named as the Finals MVP, Boris Diaw praised for his spectacular playmaking ability. Then the Big Three produced on their own way to secure the fifth title.
Before we forgot they battled so well in the very first round to dispatch the Dallas Mavericks. It’s the hardest series that Spurs had and it went game seven. Spurs team also saw themselves down in the series. Game four is one of the classic games between the rivals. Former Spur Dejuan Blair playing well with the Mavericks, he’s becoming a hero with Dallas and having momentum on their own court.
In closing minutes of the game with 3 minutes left, Tiago Splitter has the ball on top of the free-throw line. When Blair trying to reach in, he fouled Splitter and the two of them fall on the floor. Due to the intensity of the game, Blair kicked Splitter’s head. The Dallas big man called for a flagrant two which he ejected from the game. That moment, Mavericks had a one-point lead but the Spurs win 93-89.
If not for those kick maybe the Spurs lost that game four, put themselves in a 3-1 hole. Tiago Splitter has been on Dirk Nowitzki’s face all series. The Brazilian had an outstanding job on the defensive end. He’s also special in-game five with 17 points, 70% from the field, 12 rebounds, and five assists to take a 3-2 lead.
The team had a lot of heroes in the next round but if not for that kick maybe the Spurs suffered a loss against an eight seed team.
