The Spurs avenge their loss right away last Monday night against the Sacramento Kings to win a 120-106 as they never let the double-digit lead loss in the second half. The San Antonio’s second win at home after six games of this nine-game homestand. They also snapped the King’s five-game-winning run but stayed half a game behind the Dallas Mavericks for the seventh seed in the Western Conference. It was DeMar DeRozan who leads the first quarter attack when he dished six of his seven assists, which they up 33-27. Of course, the defense set the tone early for San Antonio, as they held the Kings to just 53 points in the half far from 68 points the other game. Also, Patty Mills added in scoring as he totaled 12 points in the game to put the 16 point lead at the end of the half. When the bench played well, the Spurs can win games. This doesn’t burn out the starters and they can’t lose the lead easily. Drew Eubanks also provided toughness in the fourth quarter as the Sacramento Kings tried to put Jakob Poeltl on the free throw line trying to come back at the game. The big man who put on the floor at the end of the third quarter had 8 points and five boards.
The best story was the great start of the guards specifically Derrick White and Dejounte Murray who even struggled with their shot they held their assignment to limit the production of the Kings’ backcourts. The two played the passing lane early which lead to a couple of dunks for the Spurs. Murray had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists with three steals, and 3 turnovers while Derrick White had 18 points, six rebounds, and 3 assists with a steal into his game. They were relentless to attacked the Kings’ guards in the first seven minutes of the game which they get the momentum of the game. Spurs forward DeMar DeRozan leads the team in scoring with his efficient 26 points, five boards, and seven assists. He made his first four shots in the third when the Kings trying to make a run, the Spurs even up their lead up to 20 points.
