The Spurs played the perfect first quarter against the Indiana Pacers. They have a good lead from it which they scored 34 points. But the worst second quarter ruins their chances to win the game. They had a decent run in a final quarter but they failed to find a bucket inside of two minutes which Indiana Pacers take advantage of it. The team still without LaMarcus Aldridge who still nursing an injury and Jakob Poeltl is out for 2 to 4 weeks. While DeMar DeRozan having a bad night just settled to score 10 points.
The good thing for the Spurs is Trey Lyles having a back to back 20 point game. Battling with the Pacers All-Star big man, Myles Turner, and Domantas Sabonis. He gives the Spurs life in the last two games, both games are competitive. Not an easy feat facing elite big men. Without Spur’s top two big men he’s up to the challenge. Regardless of what will happen this season, the team can give another opportunity for the big man to show his worth for the promising Spurs.
Also, another G League big man Drew Eubanks played simple basketball but a huge help for the team. Having a double-figure in minutes for the last two games which a career game against the Orlando Magic. With a small sample, the big man from Oregon shows that there’s no hesitation himself.
Finally, Lonnie Walker IV made a dunk that he’s trying to do from the last season. Defenders trying to stop him by fouling the Spurs guard when he’s trying. But now even he’s guarding by a much taller and with the help Walker’s will can’t be stopped. He’s been impressive in that fourth-quarter run, made back to back threes and a huge dunk. Imagine a Lonnie without limiting his minutes in a full season. This kid is a big part of the Spur’s future who can elevate the Spurs game. As his passing skills are something extraordinary in a process.
These good little things we’re witnessing are just a start. Huge lift to their confidence for the long term goal.
