Spurs best option if they can’t retain Jakob Poeltl

San Antonio Spurs Memes

The Spurs are unable to extend Jakob Poeltl prior to the start of the season as he will set to be restricted free agent. If we follow the history, the big man likely to be out of his way in San Antonio. From Gary Neal, Cory Joseph, and Kyle Anderson among others who switch teams. The Spurs likely need another big man to help LaMarcus Aldridge and for the long term.

Here is the option for the Spurs in this coming free agency.

Harry Giles III

The Sacramento Kings declined his team option and the fourth-year center will be a free agent. He’s a top rank prospect in 2016 before the injury struck his potential. Giles is only 21 years old with improving health as he starts 17 games this season for the Kings with 38 appearances. The big man ceiling is a poor man’s Al Horford. The Spurs reported that they take a call for his service before the trade deadline. Pundits believe he could be a good player if Giles can found a team that could give him the best medical team. The Spurs had a history of how to take care of an injury of a certain guy.

Nerlens Noel

The former lottery picks slowly recovered on his form after a good season in Oklahoma City Thunder. Nerlens Noel a staple of Thunder defense as he averages 1 steal and 1.5 blocks in just 18 minutes per game. Add his 7.7 points with 69% from the field and 4.9 rebounds per game. With the aging Aldridge, the Spurs need a young and athletic big man. Noel can defend the rim effectively and very mobile to guard the wing scorer. The Spurs will rely on Luka Samanic in the future who will likely play a stretch power forward. With a good price, the Spurs can snatch him.

Christian Wood

The brightest story for a journeyman this season. In four seasons he already got his fifth team but currently played 62 games with 12 starts. He’s very efficient on scoring and willing shooter from the arc. With the Spurs has a guard like Dejounte Murray who loves to attack the lane, he needs a big man who can space the floor. But reports the Pistons are willing to pay him up to retain Wood service. Several teams like the Knicks interested to sign him in free agency.
