Spurs homer, we can take a deep breath after a report from New York Post that Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Ty Lue is the leading candidate by the Brooklyn Nets for coaching job searching.
With more than two weeks of rumors that the Nets is high on Gregg Popovich to be their coach next season. The rumor made sense as Sean Marks is the former Spurs assistant general manager, Tiago Splitter plays in San Antonio and Jacque Vaughn win a championship and also serve to be an assistant coach with the Black and Silver.
Here’s a statement from Brian Lewis on why Tyron Lue is the top choice for the Nets.
Assuming Popovich is unrealistic, The Post and others have reported that Lue is expected to be a top candidate despite competition for his services.
Irving is believed to be open to an encore, while Joe Harris was also on that Cavs team and called Lue an “excellent” coach.
“The way he was able to relate with the players, especially just day-to-day was pretty unique in terms of a coaching perspective,” I always liked that about him, just his ability to jell and mesh with everybody.”
Even TNT analyst Kenny Smith doesn’t believe about the rumors of Popovich to Brooklyn Nets. He called it a “far fetched”.
While Sean Marks makes it clear that he wants Pop to stay in San Antonio until he hangs up for good.
Gregg Popovich addresses the media that he wants to come back to coach next season as the Spurs missed the playoffs for the first time in 23 years.
