Perfect Trade partners for Demarre Carroll

The veteran who signed with San Antonio Spurs last offseason is on the bench watching his team. Averaging 10 minutes per game, rarely use and most of it when the team’s blow out loss. Demarre Carroll received 17 DNP out of 30 games. This is very far from what he played last year. He’s still a guy who can give teams quality 20-25 minutes per game. Losing his first step doesn’t mean he’s not a good player anymore.

With these things happening to San Antonio Spurs, it’s right for both of them to part ways. It’s beneficial for both parties, Carroll can find a team that he can get his minutes and help it to a good run if bound to a playoffs contender. While the Spurs can free up some penny if they remove off the books the 21 million signed last offseason. They had a lot of things to do when free agency comes next season. Either they could get a pick in return if they will trade him instead of waiving.

There are only two teams who need the service of like Demarre Carroll.

First, the Philadelphia Sixers who are in lack of depth with the same position. They play Tobias Harris as the small forward. Coming off the bench is James Ennis III, Isaiah Miles, and Marial Shayok. The last two are unknown and play most of the time in garbage time. When the playoffs arrive they need a depth and veterans who had guts that can guard multiple positions. This is what Demarre Carroll brings to the Sixers the versatility. He already played in those moments, he’s much better than James Ennis. A playmaker at his position that can also create for himself, not relying on the open three. Demarre Carroll is just a cheaper 3 and D with only 7 million per year than what teams can get in the market.

The second trade partners are the Milwaukee Bucks who lead the league right now. Same with the Sixers the Bucks also need depth at the forward positions. Carroll will be insurance to Kris Middleton who got injured earlier this season. One of the reasons why they lose against the Toronto Raptors is the lack of another defensive depth behind Giannis and Middleton who really burned offensively. The Bucks can have a depth run or even reach the NBA Finals if they get the veteran.

In exchange for a young player or future picks. Maybe a late first-rounder for his service. The Spurs can use this pick as an additional asset. Which they can also add to move up on the draft night. These teams are willing to pay a first-rounder to compete for the title.

We also can’t deny the fact that the two coaches are Gregg Popovich’s disciples. So they can make a deal for each other to get favor for the Spurs.
