The start of the game for the San Antonio Spurs didn’t start well as they’re down big by against the Brooklyn Nets. The game has never been close after a 7-6 in the first quarter. The team went 8 of 23 from the field while the Nets made 14 of 25 tries. The closest the Spurs made is 16 points, they were down with 33 at some point.
In the final quarter, Popovich put their rookies together and posted a positive rating on both ends of the court. They just allowed the Nets to 19 points even Brooklyn key players still on the court.
I thought those kids in the 4th quarter did a great job of guarding. The guys we put in the 4th quarter played with more physicality & more attitude”
Since Tim Duncan put Keldon Johnson last game against the Hornets it’s opened the opportunity for him as he just gets quality minutes. The Spurs 29th pick an aggressive on the offensive end which he drew three blocking fouls in the game which lead to six free throws.
While Luka Samanic missed his four shots but got good vision skills and quick feet to defend guards. His awareness defensively makes him valuable.
This could be a good start for San Antonio to get minutes from the young guys to build a good future. Whatever will happen with their run this season they need to focus for the coming years. Johnson is the readiest among them all, Luka needs to get his groove, and Quin is looks like a Patty Mills game.
