After the USA defeated Brazil, Gregg Popovich praised Jaylen Brown for his efforts.
“ He’s unselfish and will find other people”
In his three years as a pro, Brown received a lot of compliments but not for his passing skills. He only makes 1.3 in his career. Against Brazil, he made four one shy of his NBA career as a player. The totaled he made for the first four games was three. But Popovich takes the credit on him. His fourth dish was the highlighted one, late in the game he burst into the paint from the top of the key and when a Brazil defender stepped up to impede the path to the rim. Brown calmly shuffled the ball to Middleton for an easy two.
In three games after his fellow Celtic Jayson Tatum sits for the injury, he was spectacular. He went 20 points against Japan, had 8 points and nine rebounds versus Greece and fill the stat sheet against Brazil had 11,4,4 and three steals.
With Popovich played a small ball the USA was undersized and put Brown as a four.
“Brown is a strong player. For his size and strength, he moves well. He can really penetrate. He can catch and pull or get to the rim. He works on defense. He just kind of an all-around player. He’s stepped in and given us good minutes on both ends of the floor for sure.”
