Gregg Popovich explained why he relies more on Derrick White over Murray

With new rotation for the San Antonio Spurs, Popovich relied on his young guys to start and finish the game.

On their first game in the bubble, Gregg Popovich gives 30 minutes and more to four multiple players. One of them was Derrick White who’s been the Spurs hero after his 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists also draw five charges.

Popovich inserted White in the closing minutes of the game while he takes Dejounte Murray out. He pointed out that White is willing to take and improving on his three.

It’s something that Dejounte’s also trying to do. You don’t shoot 3s, you lose. Derrick has picked it up quickly. That’s another threat on the floor.”

In that certain game, White pulled nine attempts from the arc and made four while Dejounte Murray made one out of his two shots.

The league is very different now, they’re heavily relied on pace and shot from the rainbow.

Pop was asked if who will distribute more as a point guard, he answered shortly.

There is no point guards in the team, DJ, DeMar can bring up the ball, even Rudy Gay can do it.”

Dejounte Murray started well the game but foul trouble limited his minutes in the first half. The Spurs guard yet to develop his shot from the arc but a good midrange shooter. Derrick White shoots 36% from the three this season at three attempts. While Murray is 38% with two attempts per game. Murray finished the game against Sacramento Kings with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.
