DeMar DeRozan becomes a sacrificial lamb by Masai Uriji to get Kawhi Leonard and lead the franchise to win their first championship. DeRozan was shocked and really hurts personally by the decision after he put the Raptors on success just to lose against LeBron James and Cleveland Cavaliers. With some rumors back in March that he will opt-out once he and the Spurs didn’t agree to an extension. While the Spurs projected to look alright with the young core, they can send back the former All-Star to Toronto to play with his family and buddy Kyle Lowry.
The Spurs had a culture that cares for his player. Both camps can make benefits from it. Spurs can play more minutes with their young core while projecting a great cap space for the next couple of years. While the Raptors and DeRozan can fix their relationship by giving each one another chance. As DeRozan developed a great relationship with the franchise, he will make sure Spurs will get something of a return.
The Spurs can get OG Anunoby, Serge Ibaka via sign and trade worth 23 million and a 2021 first-round pick.
The Raptors will receive DeMar DeRozan.
For San Antonio, they will have two defensive beasts that can help boost their needs both ends of the court. Serge Ibaka is still solid as a big man that can play on the next level of competition. He shows that it doesn’t matter for him if he plays off the bench or fewer minutes. The Spurs’ lack of athleticism from the frontcourt suffers the rebounding department. Serge Ibaka has developed himself into a great shooter. Either a pull-up or a catch and shoot. The big man got a quick foot that can follow a guard and had a strong upper body to get stops from the paint. He can jump high to chase some blocks. While OG Anunoby had the potential to be the next All-Star. He played 69 games this season and improved in every statistics. The third-year forward has a solid season after missing the last year’s title run with injury. Anunoby had 10 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game this season. He’s an elite player defensively that shoots 54% from the field and 39% from the arc. Only 23-year old and had a lot of upside on his game. OG Anunoby guards the opponent’s best player effectively. With the same age as the Spurs young guys, the team can invest with him long term. Either of these two guys mentioned can run in any transition game that brings energy to the team.
On the other hand, the Toronto Raptors could make another run with DeMar DeRozan. With Kyle Lowry on the last run of his career, they need another ready piece that can help them compete right away together with Pascal Siakam.
