Brian Windhorst reported that the Brooklyn Nets looking for a third star to make them a contender once Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving become healthy. Sean Marks who helps save the franchise from the bottom of the league. They had young and proven talents right now who steps up without the two superstars.
Brooklyn Nets general manager is a former Spurs champion and front office employee before the Nets hiring. Bleacher Report suggested they could trade for Spurs center LaMarcus Aldridge and Derrick White for Spencer Dinwiddie, Taurean Prince, and Jared Allen.
The Nets could immediately use the veteran experience of LaMarcus Aldridge who can also stretch the floor that shoots 39% from the arc. He’s been solid for the Spurs this season with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists per game. While Derrick White could be a good back up or fill the void of defensive woes of Kyrie Irving. A one year left to Aldridge contract could help them clear some cap space to chase free agency in 2021.
For the Spurs, who play the worst basketball for the first time since 1996 had a chance to rebuild quickly. Spencer Dinwiddie made a name for himself in Brooklyn. He became a reliable go-to guy in the clutch for the Nets, hitting game-winners. One of the Spurs problems this season as they had more lost is in the clutch moment. The Spurs barely use White/ Murray tandem this season, with Dinwiddie who already proves his talent that can be a better shooter and off the ball. Plus the impending restricted free agency of Derrick White in 2021 could cost the Spurs financial flexibility.
Nets center Jared Allen is a proven and young talent who can trust to save the basketball defensively. He’s cheaper, athletic and a lot of upsides that can be a useful thing to San Antonio’s future. Good insurance if Jakob Poeltl leaves in free agency this offseason. On the other hand, Taurean Prince is a good role player who knows how to play his role. Given the Spurs proven track record in getting the best of everyone. Prince can be a better and young option for the Spurs than Rudy Gay who lost a lot of steps this season.
